Getting Started
This section describes how to install Intel® Quartus® Prime Lite on Windows® 10.
1. Download and unzip the Intel® Quartus® Prime Lite installer
Download the installer file (Quartus-lite-21.1.0.842-windows.zip) and extract it to any folder.
After unzipping, it will appear as shown below in Explorer. 2.

1) Double-click the "setup.bat" file to launch the following command prompt and
2) After that, the installer will start up, click the Next button.
3) Confirm the license agreement information, check "I accept the agreement," and click the Next button.
4) Select the directory to install the software, and click the Next button.
(Full- and half-width spaces are not allowed. (If there is no problem, proceed with the default settings.)
5) Confirm that the (Default Settings) check box is checked as shown in the following figure, and click the Next button.
6) Confirm that there is enough free space on the hard disk, and click the Next button.
7) Installation will start. (It will take about 30 to 40 minutes, depending on the machine spec.)
8) During the installation,,
9) When the installation of Intel® Quartus® Prime Lite is completed, the installation of Questa® - Intel® FPGA Starter Edition will be executed automatically. (Wait a little longer.)
10) When the installation is completed, the following screen will be displayed. Since USB-Blaster II is not used this time, uncheck "Launch USB Blaster II driver installation" and click "Finish" button.
This completes the installation. (7) In this case, since "Launch Quartus Prime Edition" is checked, Intel® Quartus® Prime Lite will be launched.
11) When the license confirmation screen is displayed, check the "Run the Quartus Prime software" check box and click the OK button.
12) Intel® Quartus® Prime Lite will start up. (If it does not start, go to 13).)
13) If it does not start depending on your environment, double-click the shortcut icon and confirm that Intel® Quartus® Prime Lite starts.
14) Next, obtain a license to use Questa® - Intel® FPGA Starter Edition 2021.2.
Questa - Intel FPGA Starter Edition 2021.2 requires a license even if you are using the free version, so follow the steps below to obtain a license from Intel's website and set up the license file.
*You can choose between "Fixed" and "Floating" as the license type (license type), but this time, please use "Fixed" to issue the license file.

15) After setting up the license file, confirm the startup of Questa® - Intel® Starter Edition.
In the "Intel FPGA 21.1.0.842 Lite Edition" folder of the Start menu, click "Questa - Intel FPGA Starter Edition 2021.2 ... Click on "Questa - Intel FPGA Starter Edition 2021.2 ...".
16) Questa® - Intel® Starter Edition will start.
17) If the license is not set correctly, Questa® - Intel® Starter Edition will not start, so check the settings again. (The figure below shows an example of an error.)
This completes the installation and startup check.
