There are two types of design security, volatile and non-volatile, with different supported download cables.
Non-volatile AES key:

Altera FPGA Download Cable II (formerly USB Blaster II)
Volatile AES key:
Altera FPGA Ethernet Cable (formerly (former EthernetBlaster)
Altera FPGA Parallel Port Cable (former ByteBlaster)
Altera FPGA Download Cable (former USB Blaster)
Altera FPGA Download Cable II (former USB Blaster II)
